Professor Samir Mohamed Foad Abou El Magd is one of Egypt’s most distinguished psychiatrists, with over 35 years of experience in clinical psychiatry, addiction medicine, psychotherapy, academic teaching, and mental health advocacy.
He earned his Medical Degree (M.B.B.Ch.) from Cairo University in 1984, followed by a Master’s Degree in Psychological Medicine and a Doctorate (M.D.) in Psychiatry from Cairo University. Since joining the Department of Psychiatry at Cairo University, he has progressed through all academic ranks to become Professor of Psychiatry and currently serves as Head of the Addiction Medicine Unit at Kasr Al-Ainy School of Medicine, Cairo University.
Throughout his career, Professor Abou El Magd has provided comprehensive psychiatric care across a broad range of specialties, including:

Professor Abou El Magd is a member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the Egyptian Psychiatric Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the International Society of Addiction Medicine, where he holds Fellowship status. He also serves on the Executive Board of the World Psychiatric Association’s Exercise Psychiatry and Sport Section.
